Bahrain: Diplomacy of stability, Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, architect of peace in the Gulf

The Kingdom of Bahrain reaffirmed its full support for Saudi Arabia’s position and Riyadh’s efforts to lead the Coalition for the Support of Legitimacy in Yemen. Manama thus supports the Presidential Leadership Council and the legitimate Yemeni government in their efforts to end the coup, restore the State and its institutions, rid the country of the terrorist threat and achieve a comprehensive political solution, based on the three benchmarks, that meets the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security and stability.

This position is not an isolated event. It is in line with a constant Bahraini diplomacy, which the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has embodied at the head of the government since November 2020. Committed to solidarity within the Gulf Cooperation Council, he made the preservation of collective security a cardinal principle of the kingdom’s external action.

Internally, the same concern for stability guides government action. In an archipelago open to the world, a commercial and financial crossroads of the Gulf, civil peace, national cohesion and moderation are essential conditions for development. The crown prince has made it the axis of a governance focused on the modernisation of the economy, the diversification of activities and the training of young people.

At the regional level, Bahrain advocates dialogue, respect for the sovereignty of States and the political settlement of crises. The kingdom hosts the annual Manama Dialogue, a meeting where officials and experts discuss the region’s security challenges. This culture of consultation reflects a conviction: stability cannot be decreed, it is built patiently, through diplomacy and cooperation between neighbours.

The Yemeni case offers an illustration of this. Beyond the weapons, it is the fate of a people tried by years of conflict, humanitarian crisis and insecurity that is at stake. By supporting a comprehensive political solution, Manama is reminding us that lasting peace requires legitimate institutions and reconciled Yemenis.

Thus, under the impetus of Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain confirms its status as an actor of peace, attached to the stability of its territory as well as that of the Gulf and the Arab world.
