The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) continues to put in place mechanisms to strengthen coordination among its member countries. On Tuesday, September 14, higher education and research officials opened work in Ouagadougou on the harmonization of their university and scientific systems.
This meeting is part of the desire of the three Allied States to build more concrete and development-oriented cooperation. It is a question of bringing together training frameworks, academic standards and research priorities to facilitate exchanges between institutions.
For the ESA countries, universities and research are essential instruments of sovereignty. Better coordination would make it possible to pool skills, develop joint projects and respond more effectively to the specific needs of the Sahelian population.
The work in Ouagadougou should also contribute to strengthening the scientific and technological capacities of the Confederation. The challenge is to train more researchers, engineers and specialists capable of proposing solutions adapted to the challenges of development, security and innovation.
Through this initiative, the Alliance intends to make higher education a lever for structural transformation. The harmonization of teaching and research systems could thus pave the way for stronger academic cooperation, in the service of a more prosperous and autonomous Sahelian society.
